"Mr. and Mrs. Robert Plaisted of Bennetts Creek Road celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday at an open house given by their children at the Baptist Church House in Canisteo.
"Some 150 persons attended. Their three children, Mrs. Edward Lynch (Juanita) of Allegany, Mrs. Robert Ordway (Jean) of Almond and Dr. Robert Plaisted Jr. of Ithaca were present with their husbands and wife for the occasion.
"The Plaisteds were married May 4, 1912 in Jasper by the late Rev. J.H. Watrous. Mrs. Plaisted is the former Miss Eva Gitchell of Troupsburg. They began housekeeping in Hornell. She was a school teacher in a district school prior to their marriage.
"He was vice-president of the Citizens National Bank of Hornell where he was employed for 22 years. In 1932 they moved to the Canisteo-Greenwood road where they now live. He farmed it until about six years ago whrn they built a new home on the lower edge of the farm and sold the rest of it. Although he is retired, Plaisted serves as an assessor for the town of Canisteo.
"They are both members of the Canisteo Grange and the Canisteo First Baptist Church. They both enjoy traveling and do quite a bit of it. Flowers and sewing are also hobbies of Mrs. Plaisted.
"In addition to their three children, they have 11 grandchildren."
